Wij Telen Groente is an organic urban farm where visitors can harvest their own fresh vegetables, herbs, and berries. There is also a flower garden for picking. Everything is organically certified and grown with care by professional gardeners and volunteers. The farm organizes the BioMarkt in the Haarlemmer Kweektuin and offers daytime activities in the greenhouse under the name Telen met Zorg.
Visitors can purchase a share in the harvest, either from the greenhouse (Kas) or the field (Land), allowing them to pick produce during specific hours. The greenhouse offers a longer harvest season, roughly from March to November, while the field’s season runs from about May to November.
Currently, the field is just starting to come to life. The greenhouse already has a “green blanket.” They also offer a winter vegetable subscription.
What visitors say
This garden offers a fantastic opportunity to access fresh, organic produce directly from the source. People who want to enjoy the benefits of homegrown vegetables without the time commitment of traditional gardening can benefit from it, also teaching children about the origin of their food. Participants appreciate the variety of available produce, the ethical and sustainable farming practices, and the convenient location close to the city, and they enjoy the collaborative experience of growing food together.
