Camping Zeeuws Genieten is a family-run minicamping, restaurant, and fruit farm located on the smallest strip of Zuid-Beveland in the polder of Waarde, Zeeland. The property combines a small, quiet campground with the restaurant “Zeeuws Genieten bij Iris” and an on-site fruit cultivation business known as ZeeuwsGoud. The farm grows small fruits including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, red currants, cherries, plums, and pears.
Self-picking of produce is a seasonal highlight. A tour of the fruit farm is offered regularly, where you can see the strawberries, cherries, raspberries, and plums growing. The on-site farm shop, located opposite the camping, sells fresh fruit daily, along with juices, homemade jam, locally grown Zeeuwse onions, and eggs from the property’s chickens. Additional soft fruits like blackberries and red currants are also part of the farm’s harvest.
The restaurant is open seasonally from Easter until the end of December. During the summer holidays, it is open seven days a week. From Easter through autumn, the regular hours are Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00, and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 23:00. After October, it is only open on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 23:00. The camping is open for campers year-round, and for tents from April through September. The reception is open whenever the restaurant is open.
What visitors say
Visitors to this delightful spot in rural Zeeland consistently rave about its welcoming ambiance and diverse offerings. The mini-camping is particularly well-regarded, featuring spacious, meticulously clean pitches and modern sanitary facilities, creating a serene environment perfect for families and relaxation. Guests often highlight the warm hospitality of the owners, noting personalized touches like fresh bread delivery and the availability of e-scooters for exploring the beautiful cycling and walking paths, including those along the nearby Westerschelde.
The on-site restaurant and brasserie also receive widespread acclaim for their cozy setting and delicious cuisine, prepared with fresh, often homemade, local ingredients. Culinary favorites range from mouth-watering stone-oven pizzas served on special evenings, to excellent homemade High Teas and a diverse lunch menu that includes gourmet sandwiches, wholesome soups, and fresh salads. The innovative “aanschuiftafel” (communal dining with a surprise menu) concept is a cherished feature, adding to the unique charm, alongside themed dinner evenings. While the dining experience is largely celebrated for its quality and value, minor feedback has occasionally touched upon initial inconsistencies in sandwich fillings or specific dinner items being perceived as less generous for the price. Despite these infrequent comments, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, establishing this destination as a cherished place to experience the authentic enjoyment of Zeeland.
