Zelfplukboomgaard ’t Straatje is a self-picking orchard located between Zaltbommel and Gameren. They offer an “Adopt a Bommelse Apple Tree” program, which will continue in 2025, with self-picking only available for those who adopt a tree. The orchard is working on improving crop yields by installing an irrigation system and planting more pollinator trees, while also reducing the use of synthetic pesticides.

In the past, the orchard offered workshops on pruning fruit trees and held contests for the largest apple and most creative photo collage. They also facilitated apple pressing into juice.

Besides apples, it seems like the orchard (or planned future iterations of it) also offered or planned to offer opportunities to harvest smaller fruits (red and white currants, brambles, raspberries, kiwi berries), stone fruits (plums, apricots), vegetables, and flowers.

The website also mentions the possibility of purchasing older apple and pear trees for your own garden, as well as Christmas trees for a “rent-a-tree” concept.
